Guitar. Mandolin. Music Theory.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
The most important part of my job as a teacher is to prepare the student for an effective week of practice. Over the 8 years I've taught music I've found that the biggest mistake as a teacher that I could make was to see a student leave with nothing more than a few new licks. That is why I choose the material carefully for each lesson and through my understanding of music theory I make sure that the student is learning the real ideas at work in their music. I also send students a personalized video summary lesson to refer back to, as well as Tab/Notational PDF's for all of the main playing examples covered in the lesson. Utilizing video and PDF resources has been the most successful way to save the student time from having to take notes or feel pressured to memorize a certain part of the lesson so that all of our time together can be focused on the good stuff, technique, theory, and expression through your instrument.
